Adjustable Laptop Table

The cart is made of beautiful sturdy wood. It looks beautiful but I have had nothing but problems with the adjustment features.

The Tilting Brace that allows you to adjust the tilt of the top tray has a plastic knob that snapped the first time I tried to tighten it. The vertical support has a cute little wooden knob that when I tried to raise the tray the knob screwed rigt off! I will now have to figure out a way to remove the screw that is stuck in the vertical support and try to glue the knob back on.

Another concern was the fact that when assembled it was not level…and it was not close to level. It felt like I had to sit at an angle in order to use my laptop.

I have only owned this cart for 6 days and if I didn’t discard the carton I would return it for a refund.

This cart is beautiful and would probably suffice if you didn’t want to adjust the tilt or height very often.

As others have said, the wood is nice but that’s where it stops.

The finish is splotchy, the platforms weren’t level, the movable platform interfered with the fixed platform, the height adjustment assembly was assembled incorrectly, and when I woke up the next day, the angle adjustment bracket had snapped and the adjustable shelf had dropped down and couldn’t be fixed.

Service is less than wonderful, too, as I have had no response to three different communications to them.

I did like the wood, though, and spent another to get a brass lid support (from another supplier) to replace the angle adjustment bracket and am using the desk as I write this. It’s smaller and better looking (now) than the honking-metal-and-pressboard table I previously owned.

Okay start with the positive. The table does adjust to amazing number of positions and is very multi use. The fans run off of usb which saves from buying batteries, however they are rather loud. Luckily the fans are on a switch.

Okay now the bad: it is too small for a full sized laptop, mine hung a full 4 inches of the back of the table. A scary thought and I never felt comfortable with my laptop sitting on it. Twice it did slip off the back while

I was adjusting something(luckily it was being used in bed and my laptop didn’t suffer damage). Also the table’s “holder” blocks the ports in the front of my laptop. While the legs lock tight to prevent collapse, they had a terrible side to side sway to them. When the table is in its tallest setting it is really bad. The table wobbled very badly. The really bad news is that even though the legs and table top are metal,the hinges are cheap plastic. I assume this caused the side to side sway. After only a month of light use one of the hinges failed and fell off the leg, rendering the table useless.

Just skip this, there are better options.

This was purchased primarily for use while sitting up in bed. It has performed without failure now for around 6 months supporting a heavy gaming laptop. The cooling fan feature is effective but loud; the sound is masked when gaming by the sounds from the game, especially when using headphones, so this is not a major drawback. Although the adjustable locking leg joints at first appeared too fragile, they have never failed. The front supporting edge of the surface is metal and has slightly abraided the front edge of my laptop; I added some self adhesive padding to the edge to prevent this. I would purchase it again and recommend it with the caveats as noted.

I chose this product out of many other similar alternatives that serve the same function due to the pricing.

Though I was missing a small part, it did not affect the function and performance as it was irrelevant to the overall use. I LOVE this product so far. It looks exactly as it does in the image, and has allowed me to lay in bed while using my computer.

My only advice to future customers is to truly read the directions (PICTURES, rather) and lay out how you will build BEFORE starting. I made several mistakes and had to repeat the undoing/redoing process.

However, the frustration and time it took me was WELL WORTH the hassle considering that the price/looks/function met my expectations. If anything, I would say it went beyond, as it looks much more pricier, modern, and high-tech. Despite my bedroom furniture being brown, it works. Note: The picture looks as though you can only use it on the right side of the bed, for right handed people, but in fact, it will rotate the other direction, allowing it for left-handed users for left side of the bed.

The first reason why I ordered this desk was for the price. I ended up paying less for this desk(with shipping) than most of the desk I’ve found on the site.

The desk is bigger and sturdier that what I thought it would be. Wasn’t hard to put together, it took about 45 minutes. The Best feature is the fact you can rise and lower the desk.

Pros – It’s well designed (i.e. adjustments for thigh height book angle). My wife likes it a lot for propping up her books in bed while breastfeeding the new baby. Top surface is smooth and well varnished. It even has a drawer in the side.

Cons – The material is pine, which wouldn’t be so bad, but there are many knots and the lower surfaces were not sealed. There was an incredible amount of sap or pine resin covering the lower parts of the device. It was really sticky and has to be cleaned before you can use it. Some of the cuts made in the factory on the lower pieces, (i.e. notches to hold the angle of the book) were not clean and properly post-process sanded.

You get a little bit more than what you paid for here. To make this device out of higher grade wood, professional cuts, have it sanded, stained & sealed would have added considerably to the cost & weight. I thought about making this kind of thing by hand, but it would have taken a while and wouldn’t have been as well designed and adjustable as is this device. I think it was money reasonably spent for a short term needed device (i.e., until the baby can go the night without feeding). But, if you want a laptop reading device to go the long haul, consider something made with higher quality components.

Exactly what I was looking for. Perfect, whether I am sitting on the couch or in bed. I even find with the 2nd leg extension I can lay in bed and use it like a night stand laptop desk!…How lazy is that????!!!!

Due to moving houses, I had to work remotely from a foam bag chair (like a bean bag chair except more comfortable) for a few weeks. This was ordered specifically so I could work somewhat comfortably from the chair.

It has worked perfectly so far.

It is solid, I don’t have any concern about it breaking or collapsing, even with my larger laptop sitting on it and me moving around a lot.

It has a soft mousepad area, which prevents me from needing to keep one of my mouse pads on the table (usually at odd angles, mousepads tend to slide around, fall off a table, etc).

I haven’t used the light feature, so I don’t have a comment there.

Overall, it is a pretty simple yet well made product. It does exactly what I want.

Very versatile and light. The product could be sturdier, but then it would not be as light (portability) or easy to change the setup (versatility). There are several models of this product but I chose A4 because it is 1″ wider and it has a rubber pad along the horizontal bottom that touches your laptop. There is another model that has a cooling mechanism (and no rubber pad), but the dual layer setup of this model can take care of the cooling. I was surprised to see the hollow core (that’s what “dual layer” means) – for aesthetic reasons a closed edge would look nicer, but this allows heat to escape. Changing the angles is not as quick as I thought since you have to press the button in while simultaneously changing the angle. But this is probably preferable to buttons that pop out, since part of what makes this great is you can actually pack it up and take it places since it’s so streamlined. Despite these observations, it’s hard to see how they could come up with a better design, all things considered. I hope they have other model wider than 10.5″ to fit most laptops from top to bottom (the side-to-side width of 19″ is great). The actual flat surface from top to bottom is only 9.75″ because the remaining 0.75″ is the rubber edge. My laptop is still stable enough on it. One reviewer said the 19″ is wide enough to write notes on the side, but I find that doing so takes away some stability. Again, that’s the tradeoff of less stability and more lightness. Probably I would prefer a little more stability but still think it’s a great product.

I certainly don’t know what the other reviewers expected…it’s a T.V. Tray for Chrissake ! That said, I love this thing. First the basics: Pros: Lightweight, Very easy to adjust, Folds flat for easy storage. Cons: Ugly. Wish it came in “designer colors.” A bit expensive given the materials and design…

Actually I just bought my second Tablemate II (at Bed, Bath & Beyond) after having my first one about a year. This way I can put a large art book on one and my laptop on the other and angle them accordingly for easy reference. The TMII places my laptop at the perfect angle for writing long essays and now, my dissertation. Some people here complain that it bends after heavy use, but I haven’t encountered this despite setting various very heavy things on it over the course of a year. I really like it more than I thought I would (It looked pretty cheesy on T.V. and even in person at BB&B). I gave it a try and am more than satisfied. It slides up very close to me even if I am sitting in a deep chair. I tried a similar tray from Walgreens but it was super heavy and had a profile that did not allow it to be pulled in as close. Plus, the Walgreens’ one was made of out pressboard coated with contact paper that looked very cheap and like it would disintegrate with the first good cleaning. Also, it would only support 15 pounds. The Tablemate II is very easy to clean, and thus, I bet it would be great for kids too. In short it works for all of my needs and I can only imagine that the other people here thought they were buying something more high-fallutin than a T.V. Tray. It is what it is. And it is a huge improvement design-wise over those trays of yore with their bad, pseudo-Fantin-Latour flower stencils and spindley, X-crossed, faux-gold-toned aluminum legs my parents had! I am in my comfy chair and using it as a support for my laptop right now as I type this !

Table top was not level when assembled out of the box (on two tables). I managed to bend the legs so that the table top was level, but I was disappointed with the overall quality of the table and would not recommend it to anyone.
